Magnetic Speed Sensors

Are also known as Variable Reluctance (VR) speed sensors that consist of a wire wrapped around a permanent magnet and pole piece. This is similar to a coil winding, solenoid or DC motor. The magnetic speed sensor does not require external power and usually has two leads which are power and ground. When used in speed applications, the tooth of a ferrous target (usually a gear) moves within a proximity of the sensor and generates voltage. The frequency of the rotating target can then be translated into a speed for the given application which depends on the diametral pitch, diameter of the target wheel and dimensions of each tooth.


Sensor Applications

Our sensor can be used in many different applications in various industries. For example, an electric generator could use multiple speed, temperature, and position sensors to detect camshaft position, engine rpm and engine coolant temperature of an idling generator. Another example would be in the agriculture industry, where hall effect speed and direction sensors or quadrature sensors can detect the speed and direction of an autonomous machine used to harvest grains. Proximity sensors could be used to sense the gear position of a shift linkage within a gear box when changing the gears for a diesel truck, car, or electric bus. Turbo speed sensors can detect various speeds of a turbine for a diesel locomotive. These are just a few of the many uses of our sensors and the possibilities are endless.

Speed and Direction Sensors

True Quadrature Hall Effect (HE) Speed and Direction Sensors Two 90° out-of-phase outputs measure speed and the direction of travel of gear teeth or other ferrous targets.

Proximity Switches 

Zero Speed, Non-contact HE Proximity Switch measures rotary or linear motion. Registers the transition of target magnet past the face of the sensor. Frequency to 100,000 Hz.

Temperature Sensors Operates in direct contact with the object being monitored. The direct contact temperature sensor is designed using thermistors which are either Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) or Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC). As the temperature changes, it directly changes the resistance of the thermistor and can be convert to an output signal.
